Computer Repair in Palm Desert, CA
Your computer stopped working this morning, and now you are deciding what to do about it. Ship it back to the
manufacturer and wait three weeks? Drive it to a big-box counter and leave it in a queue? Or call somebody here in
town who can actually look at it today?
Desert Computer Agents is based in Palm Desert. We cover the whole mid-valley, we do on-site visits and remote
sessions, and we will tell you honestly which one your problem needs before you commit to anything.

What Usually Comes Through the Door
- Computers that will not power on, or power on and will not boot
- Overheating, random shutdowns, and fans running loud and constant
- Failing hard drives and SSDs, including recovery attempts on drives that are on their way out
- Virus, malware, and the aftermath of a scam pop-up somebody clicked
- Machines that have become unbearably slow
- Liquid spills
- Windows and macOS problems, reinstalls, and moving everything to a new computer
- Printers, scanners, and home Wi-Fi that drops in half the house
Heat, Dust, and Monsoon Season
Palm Desert is harder on hardware than most of the country, and after enough years of this work the pattern is
obvious. Summer afternoons sit well past 110 degrees. A computer in a warm office, a garage, or a room with
afternoon sun is already running closer to its thermal ceiling than the manufacturer ever assumed. It throttles,
the fans never stop, and parts that would last years somewhere cooler give out early.
Then there is the dust. Fine valley dust works into vents and heat sinks, blankets the surfaces that are supposed to
shed heat, and wears out fan bearings. A laptop that shuts itself off under load in August is very often just
clogged. A proper cleaning and fresh thermal paste brings it back, and that is a far better outcome than replacing
it.
Monsoon season adds a third problem. Those July and August storms bring power fluctuations along with the rain, and
a surge through an unprotected power strip can take out a power supply or a motherboard in a single evening. If
your equipment is plugged into a basic strip rather than a real surge protector or a UPS, that is worth changing
before the next storm season rather than after.
Heat also kills laptop batteries faster here. If your trackpad has started sitting unevenly or the case no longer
closes flush, stop using the machine and call us. A swollen battery is a safety problem, not a cosmetic one.
Residential, El Paseo, and Everything Along 111
We work on both sides of Palm Desert. South of Highway 111 it is mostly homes and seasonal residents. North toward
Country Club Drive and along the 111 corridor it is offices, retail, and the practices around the medical
buildings. The El Paseo businesses have their own version of the problem, where a point-of-sale terminal going
down in season is not an inconvenience, it is a closed register.
That mix is why we do not have a single turnaround answer. A home laptop can usually wait until tomorrow. A shop
that cannot take payment cannot.
If You Are Here Seasonally
If you leave in the spring and come back in the fall, you already know what happens. You turn on the computer that
has been off since April, and it wants to install nine months of updates, the password manager has logged itself
out, and the printer has forgotten the network entirely.
None of that is a failure. It is a predictable backlog, and it usually clears in one session. If you would rather
not spend your first week back on it, we can often get a head start remotely before you arrive.
On Site or Remote
A good share of what people call about does not need a visit. Software faults, configuration problems, email
trouble, and most malware can be sorted out in a secure remote session while you watch what we are doing. Anything
physical — a drive, a power supply, a screen, a cleaning — we handle in person.
If a machine is not worth repairing, we will say so rather than charging you to diagnose a computer you should be
replacing.
